I have a Seagate Freeagent External that I’m to hooking up to PS3 but the PS3 doesn’t recognize it. Any tips?

I have the newest PS3 80gb that’s not backwards compatible. I bought the external back in the spring of 2007, so its still relatively new. I want to hook the external HD to my ps3 to look at pictures and access my music catalog that I have stored on my external. Thanks in advance for the help!
You need to Format the External Hard drive in the FAT32 format first and then the PS3 will be able to recognize it.
If you Format the External Hard drive to the Fat32 format, it will delete everything from the External Hard drive, so if you have stuff saved on it, make sure you make a backup copy of everything that’s on the hard drive before formatting it.
