How does someone join beta testing for PS3 games?

I know from time to time with a pre-order of certain games you can beta test the online part of the game. but besides that whats the secret?
I can’t be 100% sure for the PS3, but usually you can get into the beta by checking early offers by the company releasing the game. Like COD5 for example. Everyone who checked in early for the beta got their codes early because they signed up for an offer earlier than everyone else did, and when the word got spread, thousands of people were hunting for a code.
Just keep on the look out for beta offers by searching Google and checking the game-makers website for early information.
