Does game cheats have a negative impact on game consoles?

When playing NBA on my PS3, the game doesn’t play right. You can get fouled after making a 2 point basket but the number of freethrows you get is 2. There are more stuff that goes on that doesn’t make sense.
It depends if the cheats are from a trustworthy source and if they’re bugged with incorrect data, then the answer’s a definite yes, they do pose a negative effect/impact on your game and save data. It also depends on how often the cheats are used.
